Joana Serrat is a Spanish singer/songwriter and Cross The Verge is her third studio album. The album was produced in Canada by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire drummer). Also joining her on two duets are Neil Halstead (Slowdive, Mojave 3) and Ryan Boldt (The Deep Dark Woods).

While it’s most definitely in the American country-folk genre with slide guitars and banjos a plenty it’s not in any way clichéd or old fashioned. The songs are really catchy modern pop tunes, I’ve been singing them incessantly!

Vocally, I’m reminded of Mazzy Star and Sinead O’Connor and the quality of instramentalists here is obviously very high. It’s a quality mellow listen.
