Aurora is a nineteen year old singer-songwriter from Norway. She’s probably best known in the UK from last year’s John Lewis Christmas advert – “The Man in The Moon” which featured her cover of Oasis’ “Half the World Away”.

Aurora has now released her first album – “All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend”. This album is quite an achievement. It’s mature and broad in range, from lovely pop songs like the beautiful Running with the Wolves right across to more experimental tracks like Wisdom Cries with it’s minimal orchestration and vocal glissandos. It straddles the line between pop and something far more exotic. There is a lot of quality music here, an engaging mellow listen.

I can’t help but think of Bjork and I suspect we will hear a lot more from Aurora over the coming years.
